Scottish Renewables' Year of COP

1 January - 31 December 2021 | Scotland-wide

COP26 is coming to Glasgow in November 2021, and the world will be watching as Scottish Renewables joins with its members to highlight our contribution to the fight against climate change.

Below are just some of the activities we'll be carrying out with our Scottish Renewables' Year of COP Partners, Sponsors and Supporters. To join them, email Carol Burns.

COP26 Conference – Scotland’s Role in Raising Global Ambition (February 25, online)

This free to attend event explored the key advantages we have here in Scotland – renewable technology know-how, well-managed natural resources supporting world-leading biodiversity and an energy workforce that is ready to make the transition to a low-carbon and net-zero world.

You can view the programme and presentations from the conference on our website

Scotland's Renewable Energy Roadshow (summer)

The UK Government wants COP26 to attract input from the widest-possible group of stakeholders. To support that, Scottish Renewables is holding Scotland's Renewable Energy Roadshow to take the dual messages of COP and renewable energy to the remote communities which host energy generation infrastructure. These events, delivered with our Scottish Renewables’ Year of COP Partners, will provide an opportunity for Scottish Renewables’ members to speak with the public and local stakeholders and explain the importance of their region to the fight against climate change.

Blogs

Our blog series – 131 blogs and counting, and almost 3,000 views per year – provide a voice for our industry in a digital landscape.

We’ll be focussing in on COP as the conference approaches with a bespoke series of blogs, produced with input from our Scottish Renewables’ Year of COP Partners, Sponsors and Supporters and others, looking at issues around climate, environment and all things energy.

COP26 networking reception (November 4)

Scottish Renewables’ membership holds the key to some of the most complex aspects of the energy transition - challenges which will be at the heart of COP26.

This event, to be held at an iconic central Glasgow venue, will bring you, our members, together with elected representatives and COP delegates from across the globe during the conference itself as we ponder: what can the world learn from Scotland?

To register your interest in attending, email Niamh O'Neill.

Directory

Scottish Renewables’ membership Directory is a one-stop shop for anyone wanting to access Scotland’s renewable energy industry. This easily-navigated, trusted gateway has operated for more than a decade and attracts around 1,000 views per month.

In 2021 we've rebranded the Directory to focus international attention on the products and services Scotland can offer as the world accelerates its drive to cut carbon.

We’ll use targeted digital marketing to drive delegates to the Directory, which will act as a portal to our industry.

Alongside it, we’ll also be working to profile the member companies which are innovating, exporting and growing to service global markets.

Advertising

Scottish Renewables acted early and has already secured a high-profile advertising site adjacent to the Scottish Exhibition Campus. We will be working with our Scottish Renewables’ Year of COP Partners to refine visual assets to populate the site, as well as seeking other opportunities as they are released to the market.

These advertising locations will showcase Scotland's renewable energy industry and our key message for COP26: that Scotland has the experience to help the rest of the world decarbonise its energy system while delivering economic growth.
