SR Response: NESO Electricity Transmission Design Principles
On October 26, Scottish Renewables responded to the National Energy System Operators (NESO) consultation on its Electricity Transmission Design Principles (ETDP).
The EDTP are a set of strategic and technical guidelines developed by the NESO to accelerate and standardise the development of electricity transmission infrastructure across Great Britain. These principles aim to:
- Support net-zero goals by 2035
 - Streamline project delivery by clarifying design expectations
 - Promote transparency and consistency in transmission planning
 - Balance technical needs with environmental and community impacts

The consultation invited stakeholders to provide feedback on the draft ETDP document, seeking to:
- Validate the clarity and practicality of the principles
 - Identify any missing guidelines or areas for improvement
 - Ensure the principles are actionable and promote transparency.
