Deputy First Minister John Swinney yesterday presented the Scottish Budget 2023-24.

Responding, Scottish Renewables' Chief Executive Claire Mack said:

"The Scottish Government’s continued commitment to the achievement of net-zero, as signaled in the Scottish Budget, is to be applauded, as are commitments to increase spending on renewable heat and offshore wind, as well as positive changes to the way renewable energy generation is assessed in the business rates system.

"Also of note is the extra £550 million for local authorities, whose planning departments in particular play a vital role in enabling the renewable energy deployment which is central to our transition to a net-zero energy system. More widely, other services such as policing also provide important support roles such as escorting renewables infrastructure and we note their settlement, as the relationship between public and private sector capacity and capability is crucial to our industry’s future economic growth."
