SR Response: Ofgem’s Call for Input on Locational Charges and Regulatory Siting Levers under Reformed National Pricing
On June 2, Scottish Renewables responded to Ofgem's call for Input on Locational Charges and Regulatory Siting Levers under Reformed National Pricing.
The consultation sought views on a range of options set out by Ofgem for designing a locational charge to incentivise investment in locations aligned with long-term system needs.
The response highlights concerns that current transmission charging is volatile, unpredictable and increasingly a barrier to investment, particularly in Scotland.
It emphasises the need for urgent clarity on legacy and transitional arrangements (LAT), with a preference for stable, fixed charges based on expectations at the point of investment.
The response also calls for a future charging framework that supports strategic planning, reduces unnecessary locational signals and improves predictability to enable investment and deliver value for consumers.
