New event is an unmissable chance to get inspired

You may have spotted recent headlines about the amount of Scotland’s electricity demand which is now delivered by renewables like wind, hydro and solar.

The numbers were impressive – 113%, up 21% on the previous year.

Obviously at Scottish Renewables we want to shout about that. But we must point out how much better we could be doing, too – and set out what needs to change to make that happen.

It’s our job to bring the renewables industry together to set a path to more investment, more jobs and more environmental benefits. And it’s also our job to make sure governments, both at Holyrood and in Westminster, know what we need to make that investment and those jobs and environmental benefits happen.

For while Scotland uses its planning powers and more to shape renewable energy deployment on the ground, Westminster maintains its control of energy policy and sets the terms of the contracts needed to sell cheap, clean power to consumers.

As an industry body, we move those conversations forward, and we’ve created a new, unmissable event: Scotland’s Energy Transition Showcase.

Wholly focused on providing the most useful experience for delegates, the Showcase comes in three parts:

  • An interactive exhibition, to showcase the technologies and projects which put Scotland at the forefront of the global energy industry.
  • Three focused spotlight talks, to share the key takeaways from Scotland’s net-zero journey to date and set the pace for what comes next.
  • A networking dinner, to socialise with the key players in Scotland’s energy journey and celebrate their successes.

While the regular conferences in our programme provide one or two days of debate, discussion and deliberation, Scotland’s Energy Transition Showcase packs all that into one afternoon in central Glasgow.

Delegates should come with open minds and will leave inspired, with the ideas and information they need to set their businesses on a profitable and productive path to net-zero.

The exhibition we’re designing will provide a place for the businesses at the forefront of technological innovation to gather and share their thinking. Around the interactive exhibition stands, delegates will have space to meet and create relationships, fostering the collaboration which is at the heart of Scotland’s clean energy success to date, and central to ensuring that success continues.

The Showcase’s spotlight talks will come from expert speakers who’re passionate about what they do and want to inspire delegates to follow in their footsteps. The high-energy talks, which will be given standing and take place in the heart of the exhibition space, will fuel debate and discussion among delegates at the exhibition and at the networking dinner which follows the afternoon’s event.

That dinner, in the same venue, is curated by the team which brings together other unmissable Scottish Renewables events, all of which have sold out in recent years, including the Scottish Green Energy Awards and our Offshore Wind Conference Dinner. The Showcase dinner will allow space for that all-important networking while giving businesses a space to introduce new talent to existing contacts, develop new relationships and mingle with industry partners from across the clean energy spectrum.

In fact, we’re so keen to enable cross-sector collaboration that we’re only charging for eight seats on every table of ten sold and encouraging businesses to gift those two seats to guests from outwith the renewables industry. They could be given to contacts who are working on renewable energy projects, those who are interested in the renewables industry or even junior colleagues who wouldn’t usually get the opportunity to attend this type of event.

The contribution of Scotland’s renewables industry to both the country's economy and its energy supply continues to grow, and so too do the opportunities for diverse and innovative businesses to get involved.

Join us at Scotland’s Energy Transition Showcase on March 19 at  Platform in Glasgow to discover a new world of opportunities for your business.

Whether you’re a new entrant or already involved, you’ll leave reinvigorated.
