SR Response: Energy Security and Net Zero Committee inquiry on Reviewing the electricity market
In February 2026, the Energy Security and Net Zero Committee opened a new inquiry into the reforms needed to the UK electricity market to enable the transition to clean, lower cost energy. The Committee invited evidence on the range of possible reforms that remain open to the UK Government after its decision to not undertake a wholesale reform toward a model of locational pricing.
SR has sent a letter to the Committee, reiterating strong industry consensus in support of a programme of progressive market reform and highlighting the remaining issues which must be urgently addressed by the UK Government and Ofgem alongside the Reformed National Pricing programme.
