SR Response: Regional Energy Strategic Plan (RESP) Methodology consultation

On November 17, 2025, NESO launched a new consultation inviting customers and stakeholders across Great Britain (GB) to help shape the methodology (the approach) for producing the first ever set of Regional Energy Strategic Plans (RESPs).

The plans will be produced for Scotland, Wales and nine English regions, helping to ensure that local areas get the energy infrastructure they need for economic growth and net-zero.

RESPs are a fundamental step in NESO’s ambitions to deliver a whole-system approach to strategic energy planning in GB. The methodology consultation, which closed on January 16, 2026, sought responses from customers and stakeholders on how the first set of RESPs should be developed and integrated into GB’s overarching strategic energy planning (SEP) framework.
