Award nominations open for the UK's premier celebration of renewable energy

Nominations have today (July 22) opened for The Scottish Green Energy Awards 2026, the UK’s largest celebration of renewable energy.

For more than two decades, the awards have recognised achievements across Scotland's renewable energy industry, celebrating excellence in innovation, project delivery, skills, sustainability and community engagement.

As renewable energy plays an increasingly important role in delivering economic growth, strengthening energy security and protecting the environment, Scottish Renewables is calling for nominations that recognise the individuals and organisations leading that progress.

Winners will be announced at an unforgettable ceremony in Edinburgh later this year, bringing together more than 1,600 guests from across industry, government and civil society.

Angela Hepworth, CEO of Scottish Renewables, said:

"Renewable energy is one of Scotland's greatest success stories, and that's thanks to the talented people who continue to innovate, collaborate and deliver every day.

"The Scottish Green Energy Awards shine a spotlight on those achievements. Whether it's a ground-breaking project, an inspiring individual or a community making a real difference, these awards celebrate the ambition and dedication driving our industry forward.

Nominations for the awards, headline sponsored by EDF power solutions UK and Ireland, are now open across 12 categories including:

  • Best Community Project Award (sponsored by ScottishPower Renewables)
  • Best Engagement Award (sponsored by SmartestEnergy)
  • Best Innovation Award – New Technology Products (sponsored by SLR)
  • Best Innovation Award – Software and Services
  • Carbon Reduction Award (sponsored by Statkraft)
  • Champion of Renewables Award (sponsored by Fred. Olsen Renewables)
  • Contribution to Skills Award (sponsored by SSEN Transmission)
  • Industry Challenger Award (sponsored by Natural Power)
  • Outstanding Contribution Award (sponsored by Nadara)
  • Outstanding Project Award
  • Outstanding Service Award (sponsored by Ocean Winds)
  • Sustainable Development Award (sponsored by Boralex)

The shortlist for the Young and Inspiring Award category, sponsored by ESB, is made up of the nine winners of the Young Professionals Green Energy Awards announced in August this year.

A Judges Award, sponsored by Global, will be announced on the night of the event, going to a nominee the judges feel deserves special commendation.

Nominations for The Scottish Green Energy Awards 2026 must be made before the deadline of 5pm on Tuesday, September 8. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) on Thursday, December 3.
