Scottish Budget 2025/26 announced
Shona Robison MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Finance, has today (January 13) unveiled the Scottish Government’s Budget for 2025/26 which includes further investment in Scotland’s offshore wind sector.
The Scottish Government has announced it will spend £93 million in the next tranche of a commitment it made in 2023 to invest £500 million in Scotland’s offshore wind supply chain and has also allocated £8 million to support its wider Offshore Wind Programme, including a new skills action plan.
Responding Claire Mack, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, said:
“The latest Scottish Government budget maintains support for the offshore wind sector and is expected to develop supply chain companies, encourage export activity, and contribute to the development of skills across Scotland.
“Funding for the Offshore Wind Programme, alongside the development of a skills action plan in collaboration with industry, will be welcomed by offshore wind developers and the wider supply chain.
“This week we will have more clarity on Scotland’s offshore wind sector following the latest CfD auction so we are also pleased to see the next tranche of the Scottish Government’s £500 million commitment to the offshore wind supply chain.
“We will work closely with the Scottish Government to ensure this funding is deployed in a way that gives industry the certainty it needs to invest the infrastructure and manufacturing capacity required to secure Scotland’s offshore wind future.”
