The Scottish Green Energy Awards has today (October 10) announced the shortlist for the UK’s largest and most prestigious celebration of the renewable energy industry.

This year’s awards, organised by leading industry body Scottish Renewables, will bring together more than 1,650 guests from across the energy spectrum to recognise and honour the achievements of those whose groundbreaking work is helping to secure Scotland’s economic prosperity.

Featured on this year’s shortlist include wind, low-carbon heat and solar projects as well as community hubs and individuals nominated by their peers.

Some examples from the shortlist include:

  • BW Ideol - shortlisted for ‘Best Innovation - New Technology Products’ for Damping Pool, its competitive, innovative and low-impact floating foundation solution.
  • Attix CIC - finalist in the ‘Best Community Project Award’ category for its 2.5MW Kilbirnie Wind Turbine, Scotland’s first community-owned onshore wind turbine to operate commercially without using government subsidies.
  • Renewable Parts and the Advanced Materials Research Laboratory (AMRL) at University of Strathclyde - shortlisted for ‘Outstanding Project’ for their collaboration that applies circular economy principles within wind turbine decommissioning, promoting refurbishment and remanufacturing of high-integrity, high-value parts, instead of recycling and returning to raw materials.

The Scottish Green Energy Awards, headline sponsored by EDF power solutions UK and Ireland, are an annual celebration of the organisations, people and projects shaping Scotland’s clean energy future.

The awards see more than 50 individuals, companies and projects shortlisted for prizes in 14 prestigious categories at a ceremony in Edinburgh, on December 4.

Claire Mack OBE, Chief Executive of Scottish Renewables, said:

“I have been thoroughly impressed by the exceptional calibre of nominations submitted for this year’s awards. The level of expertise, innovation and commitment demonstrated across the board has been truly outstanding.

“Naturally, this makes the judging process particularly challenging and selecting a shortlist from such a strong field required careful deliberation, but we are confident that those chosen represent the very highest standards in our industry, demonstrating excellence, dedication and the kind of innovation we need to drive our industry forward.

“I very much look forward to joining you in Edinburgh, on December 4, as we come together to recognise the significant contributions our industry continues to make both to the economy and to the environment. It promises to be an evening of well-deserved celebration.”

Matthieu Hue, Chief Executive of EDF power solutions UK and Ireland, said:

“The Scottish Green Energy Awards continues to be one of the most anticipated events on the renewable energy industry’s calendar. EDF power solutions UK and Ireland is once again proud to be headline sponsor of the event.

“Many congratulations to everyone who has been shortlisted in the various award categories. We look forward to celebrating the many achievements and milestones from over the past 12 months at the ceremony in Edinburgh, in December.”
