The First Minister has today (May 6) announced the Programme for Government 2025-26, outlining the Scottish Government’s legislative and policy priorities for the year ahead.

Responding, Claire Mack, Chief Executive at Scottish Renewables, said:

“For Scotland’s renewable energy industry, the efficiency and capacity of the planning and consenting system is central to our aspirations. It is also essential for igniting growth across the economy, so the Scottish Government must take the commitments announced today and deliver a clear route to sustained project activity.

“Skills are another critical catalyst for growth and we agree with the Scottish Government that our skills system must become more responsive to its strategic priorities like clean energy where our industry is ready to play its part.

“More broadly, we are encouraged that our calls have been heard on simplifying financial support for the decarbonisation of heat through the loan and grant scheme, alongside measures to ensure the supply chain can access opportunities in clean energy at home and abroad.

“With around ten months left of this parliamentary term, action is now needed to realise the ambition shown in the Programme for Government. Scottish Renewables will work with the Scottish Government to maximise today’s commitments and support its efforts to secure investment that will be transformational for Scotland.”
