Repowering - Planning in Focus

4 March 2026 | Glasgow

Repowering Scotland’s onshore wind fleet is essential for meeting clean energy targets, but the planning system holds the keys to unlocking this opportunity. While grid and market challenges dominate the headlines, planning remains the foundation for delivery - shaping how projects navigate policy and environmental assessments.

This session takes a deep dive into two critical planning issues: interpreting National Planning Framework 4 (NPF4) and Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA). Both are pivotal in determining how repowering projects can move forward efficiently.

This event will have two 30-minute sessions on:

  • How NPF4 can support repowering.
  • How EIAs and habitat management plans should be considered when repowering sites.

Expect a dynamic discussion with expert insights, proposed solutions and live audience debate to shape the future of repowering policy.

Please note, this is a free-to-attend member event and registration is essential. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Marta Filbrandt, Events and Membership Officer, at mfilbrandt@scottishrenewables.com
