Green Hydrogen Seminar About the Event
Green hydrogen is set to play a critical role in our clean energy future by helping to create a more flexible, resilient and integrated energy system.
Both governments have shown strong support for the technology. The Scottish Government has set an ambitious target of producing 5GW of green hydrogen by 2030, while the UK Government has set a similar target reaffirming the need for at least 5GW of green hydrogen by 2035. With abundant renewable energy resources – particularly offshore wind, but also wave, tidal and onshore wind – along with vast engineering skills and an established supply chain, Scotland is well positioned to become a leader in green hydrogen. This expertise can be shared not only around the UK but across the globe. However, a strategic vision for green hydrogen coordinated across Scotland and the UK is needed to support certainty around the role green hydrogen will play in our future energy system.
Now is the time to seize the opportunities green hydrogen has to offer, such as decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors and enabling a net-zero energy system. However, significant barriers will need to be addressed to realise these benefits.
Scottish Renewables’ Green Hydrogen Seminar will gather industry leaders, government and stakeholders to address one of the key challenges facing hydrogen deployment: demand.
Join us for a packed, one-day event to learn:
- How industry and governments can coordinate to establish Scotland’s leading role in the development of green hydrogen
- Where green hydrogen demand lies across the new energy system and how it integrates with other technologies
- How demand for green hydrogen can be incentivised now to enable scalable projects before 2035
- Which projects are already moving forward and what they have learned along the way
Why attend?
- Network – connect in person with green hydrogen industry leaders and key stakeholders leading the way in green hydrogen deployment
- Ask – the key questions that will turn the dial on the growth of the green hydrogen industry
- Discover – the latest policy changes, how they interact and their impact on the future of green hydrogen
- Access – the latest thought leadership, updates to hydrogen projects, policy and guidance that are working to scale up green hydrogen
- Discounts – Scottish Renewables members enjoy exclusive discounted access to our industry-leading events
Who should attend?
Industry and supply chain, local and national government, academia, public bodies, professional advisors and consultants, community groups and anyone else with an interest in the development and growth of Scotland’s green hydrogen sector.
Our programme and networking opportunities offer a cross-sector audience looking to engage on what the future energy system will look like and where green hydrogen will fit into this. Scotland has an immense opportunity to become a source of knowledge and green hydrogen production, but collaboration across industry and stakeholders will be key to reaching its potential.
If you are interested in where green hydrogen development fits in the coming energy transition, and how we get there, please join us for an exciting day discussing Scotland’s green hydrogen potential.
