Scottish Renewables' New Voices Campaign
**Following a nominations process, all New Voices Campaign places have been filled for 2023/24.**
A diverse group of people in the renewable energy industry deserve to be heard. Their contributions bring new energy to projects, revitalising old ways of thinking and making the work we do to tackle climate change more relevant for modern audiences.
These people often lack the confidence to stand up in front of their colleagues – either at internal meetings, in discussions with suppliers or at industry events. Scottish Renewables’ New Voices Campaign, sponsored by Ørsted, is equipping some of the best and brightest people in our industry with the skills they need to make their voices heard.
We want new people and new faces (and their voices of course!) to bring something new to our conference programme, as well as spreading the word more widely through other opportunities and organisations.
So if you are younger, older, physically or mentally impaired, in the process of transitioning, in a same sex couple, defined by your race or colour, live your life to a particular religious or philosophical belief (or none!), were first in your family to go to university or expecting a child then we would love you to take part in our New Voices programme.
We want to see diversity and improve the representation of underrepresented groups. We encourage you to share your perspectives, backgrounds and experiences and help us as a sector to be more inclusive by taking part.
The Campaign is taking eight people on a journey to understand how they can be more confident and communicate more effectively in their professional lives – giving them the tools to grow their networks, promote their businesses and act as ambassadors for the renewable energy industry.
Over the course of a year, four workshops will teach them vital skills before access to speaking opportunities at Scottish Renewables’ events allows them to begin to use what they’ve learned in the real world.
The New Voices Campaign will include:
A series of training sessions, held through 2023, which will provide training in:
- Confidence building
- Public speaking
- Media and public relations
- Ask the Experts – an advice and Q&A Forum
- A chance for the diverse people involved to join Scottish Renewables events as future speakers.
This blog by Claire Mack, Chief Executive, Scottish Renewables further details the campaign and our drive to bring new voices into the renewables industry.
