Smart energy system: Draft response

Scottish Renewables draft response to the Ofgem & BEIS call for evidence on a 'smart, flexible energy system' focusses on how system flexibility can provide an opportunity for the following;

• Providing a commercially viable route to market; Creating the market for flexibility and enabling revenue opportunities through services and storage
• Improving cost of and access to the electricity network
  • Changing the role of DNO’s
  • Using system flexibility to connect low carbon generation at lowest cost
• Creating a level playing field: Making the case that issues arising from network charging are addressed through a NGET/Ofgem led holistic review
