Hannah Smith, Senior Policy Manager at Scottish Renewables, said: "Scottish Renewables welcomed the outcome of the Barclay Review of Non-Domestic Business Rates last month (Aug).
"We had subsequently proposed that The Scottish Government extend rates relief which had been offered until such time as a review of the underlying issues could be addressed.
"We are therefore pleased that Cabinet Secretary for Finance and the Constitution has agreed to extend and strengthen that relief provided to the hydro sector pending a review of the Plant and Machinery Order.
"It is disappointing, however, that this relief does not extend to other small-scale commercial renewable technologies which have seen similarly sharp increases in rates bills.
"This is also frustrating for district heating schemes, to which the Scottish Government granted relief earlier this year."
